We received an announcement from the Netherlands Embassy in Washington
that due to budget cuts, the Dutch Parliament decided to close a large number of
Consular posts around the world and to our regret, announced that the
Honorary Consulate in Atlanta will be closing on December 31st, 2015.
After this date, all Dutch passport holders will have to travel to Washington DC,
a Consulate General or to the Netherlands to renew their passport.
The announcement does not include any information regarding the visa application,
but if the the consulate closes no visa applications can be handled in Atlanta.
We believe that closing the Netherlands Consulate in the city with the worlds busiest airport
is not only shortsighted but will have a major impact on the business between
the Netherlands and a large number of Georgia based companies that have employees
who are required to obtain a valid visa prior to a trip to the Netherlands.
If your company will be effected by the closure of the Atlanta Honorary
Consulate please write an email or letter to the members of the Dutch Parliament.
